Steven Leibo, Ph.D.

Albany, NY, US
Trained on January 2nd, 2007
151 lifetime presentations

I am a professor of International History and Politics with a focus on the relationship between Asia and the West. I am though better known in the upstate New York region as a long time international affairs commentator for WAMC Northeast Public Radio and a great many local and regional t.v. broadcasters. Most of those commentaries and some t.v. news clips have something to do with issues related to the climate crisis and energy conversation. To learn more simply google "Leibo's World Watch"

I have also given well over a hundred and sixty formal talks since returning from my initial training in Nashville in 2007 but perhaps of more importance, I have added the material on climate change to a wide range of courses I teach at both Russell Sage College (my primary job) and at the State University of New York where I have worked part time since 1986. I have also taught a regular course on the topic called "The Climate Crisis and the Challenge of Energy Conversion"

Although I am interested in all aspects of this topic I have a particular interest in how all this is playing out in Asia, especially the People's Republic of China. Each year I publish a book, _East & Southeast Asia 2013_ (Rowman & Littlefield-Stryker-Post) updating developments in that region.

Recently I also published an article "Asia & the Climate Crisis" which appeared in the January 2011 issue of Education about Asia and can be found at

Even more recently I served as the International Adviser forward writer for Brill's series on Chinese Climate Research.

I also spent the summer of 2013 in China and Mongolia studying these issues even more.
